Catching up with the Family

I have been adding a lot of other things to my blog recently and I have neglected talking about my children. Starting with L, She is back in school and living at home. She decided to stay at home to try to save money but she is missing the social aspect of it. One benifit of living at home, her grades are almost 100% in everything. She is enjoying playing her Clarinet again in the campus band. She left it alone for about 2 years after graduation. She is also experiencing Campus Choir. One of her regrets in High school is not trying out for choir. She has a great alto voice. She decided she wants a job at a ranch or at a national park. She put out applications to a few places. She had a phone interview at a national park that is a few hours away from us. If you know what park that is and are going there this summer contact me and I will let you know where and what she is doing. She would LOVE to have people she knows stop in and say HI! It seems like a pretty good job. She will be work

Mod Podge picture frame

A few years ago when L was in a pageant, a friend suggested instead of getting her flowers that will die, make her a frame that has the pageant theme to it. This way she can keep it forever. This year D is in the same pageant. Her theme is Urban Jungle. I wanted to have a thick frame and do a sky line across the bottom but I could not find the right type of frame so I scrapped the skyline idea. I found a picture frame for 50% off at a local store. I made sure that the frame was flat on the front.  I decided where to put the line between the two papers to be on the front of the frame and I traced it.  I used Mod Podge to glue the paper to the frame (yes I love mod podge). The main colors other than jungle was a light blue and purple. Her group was the pink flamingo's for the opening number and she wore purple for her fitness routine.  You cannot see it but I used a big jewelry bead to put the pink feather in. I then used a heavy duty epoxy to attach it. I a

Love

My favorite saying for a long time has been Come what may and Love it. I now have another faveorite saying. Hmmm should I change the name of my blog?

duh why did I not think of these!

Great tips!!! Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.. I didn't know that! Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil. It will stay fresh much longer and not mold! Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating . Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking. Add a teaspoon of water when frying ground beef. It will help pull the grease away from the meat while cooking. To make scrambled eggs or omelets rich add a couple of spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream in and then beat them up. Add garlic immediately to a recipe if you want a light taste of garlic, and at the end of the recipe if you want a stronger taste of garlic. Reheat Pizza Heat up leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza. I

Mod Podge suitcase

Image
For Christmas, I encouraged my kids to make each other something. I was sweetly surprised. This is a photo of an old suitcase that H got from grandma's house. It was dark blue cardboard with holes in it. It has sat at her house and not used for at least 40 years. He spray painted it white. Then he mod podged the fabric that he found. I did a little bit of helping him when it came to tricky corners but for the most part he did this himself. :) BTW His sister LOVES IT!

Mod podge necklaces

D made some gifts for her freinds as Christmas gifts. They are really easy and take about 15 - 20 minutes per necklace. For the instructions click here.

I love mod podge!

STEP 1 - Find an old window. STEP 2 - Clean STEP 3 - put some kind of sealer on the flaking paint. I used mod podge. STEP 4 - add fabric or paper to the back side of window. I used paper and mod podge for this step also. STEP 5 - find some creative thought, either cut it yourself with a cricut or buy it at a craft store. STEP 6 - hang on your wall and ENJOY!
